What is a life milestone?

A life milestone is a meaningful threshold measured from a starting date. Traditional milestones use whole ages such as 18, 21, 30, 40 or 100. A life-date milestone can also be 10,000 days old, 1,000 weeks alive, 500 months, a half birthday or a round number of minutes.

A round day milestone is sometimes called a metric birthday. These dates are not more important than birthdays. They are a playful second calendar: a reason to notice time on a day that would otherwise look ordinary.

When will I be 10,000 days old?

Add exactly 10,000 elapsed days to the date of birth. Do not convert 10,000 days to an approximate number of years because leap days shift the date. Enter your birth date above and select 10,000 days to get the exact weekday and date.

10,000-day worked example

A person born on 10 March 2000 reaches 10,000 days old on Tuesday, 27 July 2027. The date comes from adding 10,000 calendar days to 10 March 2000, including the leap days in between.

How are weeks, months and minutes calculated?

Weeks: each week adds seven calendar days. A 1,000-week milestone is therefore 7,000 days after the starting date, not an approximate number of years.

Months: the calculator adds calendar months, keeping the original day where it exists. If the target month is shorter, it uses that month's last day. For example, 100 months after 31 October 2000 is 28 February 2009. Months are not treated as fixed 30-day blocks.

Minutes: the calculator counts from midnight UTC on the entered birth date and displays the resulting UTC calendar date. Ten million minutes is 6,944 days, 10 hours and 40 minutes; from 10 March 2000, that gives 15 March 2019. This is a date estimate, not the exact instant you reach that age, because the form does not ask for your birth time or birth time zone.
